For event guests

How it works.Mixtape lets you request a song at an event and back your request with a charitable donation. Requests are suggestions to the event’s host or DJ, who decides what plays. Your donation supports the charity you choose whether or not the song plays. Donations never purchase queue position, priority, or a guarantee that any song will be played — this includes adding a donation to a song that’s already been requested.

Where your money goes. Donations are made to Every.org, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 61-1913297), which grants funds to the charity you choose. Your tax receipt comes from Every.org. 0% platform fee on charity. Forever. — Mixtape takes nothing from charitable donations. We never hold or transmit your funds.

Refunds. Because donations are made to and processed by Every.org, refund and dispute questions are handled by Every.org, not by Mixtape. Contact Every.org support with your receipt. A refunded donation does not create any obligation regarding song requests, and a played song does not affect your rights regarding your donation.

Dedications and conduct.If you opt in, your name and message may be shown on the event screen and recap page. Keep messages appropriate for a mixed audience; the host may decline or remove any request or dedication at any time, without notice and without explanation. Don’t use Mixtape to harass anyone or to post unlawful content.

Tax.We don’t provide tax advice. Your receipt from Every.org and your own tax advisor are your sources on deductibility.

Age. You must be 13 or older to use Mixtape.

For event hosts

Hosts connecting a Spotify account confirm that: the event is a private, non-commercial gathering; the Spotify account is your own (Premium) account used in accordance with Spotify’s terms; and you have whatever permissions your venue requires. You control playback and the request queue; Mixtape never plays, stores, or transmits audio. There is no self-serve disconnect today — signing out ends your session but does not remove the connection. Email andrew@efficientfrontierlabs.com and we will delete your Spotify data from our systems.

Third-party services: Spotify

Mixtape uses the Spotify Platform so event hosts can control playback on their own Spotify account. By using Mixtape you agree that: (a) Spotify is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and of our Privacy Policy and is entitled to directly enforce these Terms; (b) we make no warranties or representations on behalf of Spotify, and all implied warranties with respect to the Spotify Platform, Spotify Service, and Spotify Content — including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement — are expressly disclaimed; (c) you will not modify or create derivative works based on the Spotify Platform, Spotify Service, or Spotify Content; (d) you will not decompile, reverse-engineer, disassemble, or otherwise reduce the Spotify Platform, Spotify Service, or Spotify Content to source code or other human-perceivable form, to the fullest extent permitted by law; and (e) Mixtape — not Spotify or any other third party — is responsible for this product, and any liability of such third parties is disclaimed to the fullest extent permitted by law.

The service, plainly

Mixtape is provided “as is.” We work hard to make events run smoothly, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted service, that any request will play, or any particular fundraising outcome. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Efficient Frontier Labs, LLC’s liability arising from use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us to use it (for guests and hosts today: zero). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
